In simple terms — the mod plate shows that your vehicle is safe, legal, and roadworthy after it’s been modified.
When Do You Need a Mod Plate?
You’ll need a mod plate whenever your vehicle’s structure, performance, or specifications are changed from the factory setup.

Only an Approved Person Engineer can inspect, certify, and sign off on modifications under the Queensland Code of Practice – Vehicle Modifications (QCOP).
